B4ST Update – October 2019

B4ST routes

Progress has been made all round in the weeks since our last newsletter, so we thought it would be a good time to give everyone an update on how things are going. More people are getting connected through the parish and work is being done on the remaining routes.

Routes 3 & 5 – Stainton
Routes 3 and 5 through Stainton are now mostly completed, with many households now connected to the B4RN service and receiving fast, reliable internet speeds. The school has now been connected, which means they now have world-class internet connection for all pupils and staff. This is one of the many benefits that this project is bringing to the whole community of the parish.

Routes 1 & 2 (Halfpenny and Millbridge Lane)
Digging on routes 1 and 2 is now almost completed except for some road crossings which need to be done by B4RN contractors. Applications have been made and once these road crossings and the last few bits of digging are carried out, that phase of routes 1 and 2 will be complete.

Householders along these routes have been getting their house kits installed in their properties and digging fibre ducts across their gardens in anticipation of the service being connected.

If you are on these routes and have not yet obtained your house kit or installed ducting across your garden, now is the time to do so, as these routes will be ready for connecting up when the final road crossings are completed. If you are unsure how to obtain a house kit, how to have it fitted, or how to dig across your garden, then help is at hand – please just contact any of the B4ST Barn Stainton steering group and we can advise and point you in the right direction for contractors who can help you. There is also a list of useful contacts available for people who can help you.

Route 4 – Barrows Green
We are just waiting to obtain the last couple of wayleaves from landowners on this route and then digging can commence. Once started, the digging phase should be quite swift and then the process of obtaining house kits, fixing them to properties and digging ducting across your gardens should be completed in preparation for connection. Please contact a member of the steering group if you are unsure what to do and we can advise you.
