We’ve previously mentioned a government scheme called the Gigabit Voucher Scheme, which is there to help projects like ours fund the cost of connecting to Hyper-fast broadband. Generous community investment to date has enabled continued progress, the Gigabit Voucher Scheme is what we need to keep going and complete the project.
GBVS will help Help B4RN Stainton connect everyone.
As you may already know, B4RN Stainton has the opportunity to benefit from funding from the Government Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
The Government has recognised the need for full fibre gigabit capable connectivity in the UK and the current voucher scheme has been aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises, along with the local communities surrounding them, gain access to gigabit broadband by providing grants towards the installation cost of getting fibre to your door.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport announced the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme in 2018. It is part of the Local Full Fibre Networks Programme which is a Government fund set up to help locally led projects across the UK benefit from local and commercial investment in full fibre, which is the “gold standard” for fast and reliable broadband.
Why should I register?
B4RN is able to claim up to £2500 towards the cost of providing Business connections and up to £500 for Residential connections.
What does this mean?
If you are sole trader, run a farm, partnership, ltd company, etc. then you can apply for the business grant; all other connections will be residential. Proof of business from your property will need to be evidenced by some form of HMRC documentation or utility bill in the business name.
B4RN can only claim the grant if you take a 12 month service contract with B4RN. The grant becomes payable to B4RN once your service is live.
Most of the funding received will be applied towards the overall build cost of the Stainton B4RN project, including paying for contractors to install the main network of ducting and chambers. However, the following payments will also be made:
- For Businesses your £150 connection fee is covered by the GBVS
- For Businesses, £300 towards the costs of connecting the property
- For Residential, £150 towards the costs of connecting the property
